Corine Vermeulen is a Dutch photographer who set up her studio practice in Detroit in 2006. She is best known for her long term, immersive projects portraying resilient urban communities in the midst of reinvention. Her photographs have been featured in The New York Times, Brooklyn Rail, Time Magazine, The Guardian and The Fader, among others. She has had numerous solo and group exhibitions at national and international venues including, a solo exhibition at The Detroit Institute of Arts: The Walk-In Portrait Studio (2015), and group exhibitions Constant as the Sun at MOCA Cleveland (2017), and This Land at Pier 24 in San Francisco (2018).She earned a BFA from the Design Academy Eindhoven, a MFA in photography from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and is a recipient of a Kresge Artist in Detroit Fellowship. She is represented by David Klein Gallery in Detroit and is currently a visiting professor at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
